guide to THE
COMBAT STUDIOS
tour of duty™:
“Taking the battlefield experience another step forward”
Preface
Combat Studios Tour of Duties are unlike any clan ladder or other online tournaments, our members participate in a simulated war, with commanding officers, divisions, and a score system to show the progress of the war from week to week. The Tour revolves around regular practices, large-scale company practices and huge, up to ten hour battles fought twice a week across a variety of servers. Members may attend as much or as little of battles as they like.
Players will have the option to join any of our tournaments and be assigned to and be assigned to one of the armies in that theatre of war. Each army will have the required structure and will battle twice a week against the opposing army on maps representing the territory being fought for. The progress of the war is displayed on a unique scoreboard where territories change hands based on which army wins them. Each Tour lasts approximately 12 weeks. At the end of each Tour, the outcome of the prior conflict is taken into consideration and the battle will enter new areas, featuring new content and action.
While we are a very serious gaming community we understand that our members have lives; you will be able to attend as much or as little of battles as you would like. Welcome to Combat Studios Tour of Duty, and we'd love to give you the opportunity to play many of your favourite games the way they are meant to be played ®. Signup and start your online military career today!
Tour Highlights
This section explains how our Tour of Duty operates. It is not essential that you understand this to play in a Tour of Duty, but it provides a glimpse into what is going on behind the scenes.
Our Tours of Duty simulate actual wars, and as such, are conducted in phases. Each army will engage each other in battle at set times. Your army will probably play at the same times every week, and you will have at least two battles per week. Server information will be posted in your armies barracks during the week. Each battle will be played on a selection of maps predetermined for that specific theatre of war. If custom maps are required for play download links will be listed on the specific tour of duties forum.
When you register, and submit your payment, you will get complete access to the members only area of our website as well as the specified Tour of Duty for an entire Tour, which includes access to our private Teamspeak server, our downloads section and all Tour related services. In the downloads section you can browse through a large selection of custom maps and even mods, as well as any essential items for play within the Tour of Duty
If you are not able to pay via PayPal you can send cash, check, or money order, which you can mail to:
Please make sure to include your email address, name, desired division, and in-game username.
Combat Studios Tour of Duty players do not require exceptional levels of talent to play. Any player who works toward improving his or her skill, through exhibiting discipline and attending regular practices, is capable of becoming a great soldier.
• Members must be a minimum of sixteen (16) years of age before joining any Combat Studios Tour of Duty. Combat Studios does not have any mechanism for verifying the ages of players with perfect accuracy and does not take any responsibility for players younger than 16 who are members of the Tour of Duty.
• Members must maintain decorum and exhibit maturity both on and off the battlefield.
• Members must comply with and execute to the best of their ability any orders given by superior officers or Tour of Duty administrators.
• Members may not cheat or use exploits in any way, on any server. If you discover an exploit, you are required to make a superior officer aware of it. If you discover an exploit during a battle, you must desist in using it, and make your superiors aware of it during the inter-round time.
• Members may not harass in any manner members of any Combat Studios Tour of Duty, or members of the external gaming community in any way. Harassment is grounds for expulsion from the current tour you are participating in, and depending on the severity of the offense, can result in a lifetime ban from all Combat Studios Tours of Duty. This includes verbally abusing your superiors, subordinates, and peers.
• Members may not spam messages about any Combat Studios Tour of Duty on either other servers or on forums.
• Members are not allowed to post offensive quotations or imagery, including, but not limited to, that which is: racist, anti-Semitic, pornographic, or otherwise offensive, as part of their signatures or elsewhere in the forums. Combat Studios LLC, however, reserves the right to define what it considers offensive, and is not required to remove content just because a member deems it offensive or controversial. • Members are permitted to become or remain a member of another clan. Members may also recruit other members from the Tour to join their clan, provided they do so discretely, and with the intention of continuing to play in the Tour.
• Unless otherwise instructed by a Battlefield Command staff member, only trained air force pilots are permitted to fly aircraft during battle. For training instructions just ask around, other members will be able to help you.
• Members are required to be on the Combat Studios Tour of Duty Teamspeak server during practices and battles, or when otherwise playing on Combat Studios LLC servers. Members are encouraged to remain on Teamspeak whenever possible. There is more information about Teamspeak in the Teamspeak section of the FAQ. Please note that we use Teamspeak for all communication during Battledays.
Combat Studios Tour of Duty Clan Fusion is a great way for clans to join the Tour of Duty community. If you have a clan and are looking for a great way to improve your skills then check out this program. If you decide to join through Clan Fusion, we reserve the right to assign your clan to the side with the fewest members to preserve balance.
Combat Studios Tour of Duty Clan Fusion allows clans to join the same side and to play as one cohesive unit. Players will all be assigned to the same sub-unit, a group of ten players, and will be able to play together during battles and practices. Players enrolling in this program will be free to participate in all other areas of the army, including special forces, and the air-force, but will need to go through the same procedures as everyone else. Clan Fusion is designed to integrate larger units and accommodate, and is not intended to create semi-autonomous groups within the specific tours armies. Players who join through Clan Fusion must also abide by all other Tour specific rules. If you are interested in joining, please contact admin@combatstudios.com.
To be eligible for this program you do not need to join with your entire clan. You may also be currently enrolled in the Tour to participate. Tour of Duty involvement does not supercede other clan commitments. You will still be able to practice together, attend clan matches together, and do all things you would otherwise, you will just have a great place to get better and a whole new style of play to try out.
This section details the numerous qualification programs available for players. These might not all be there from day one, but will integrated shortly after the Tour of Duty goes live. Please note that different divisions may have slightly different names for the programs.
There are also a variety of teams in which you can participate if you're interested. BF2 Combat currently has the following teams in active service:
